How to Conduct the Test
- The athlete completes their own warm up
- The athlete lies on the ground, places their hands by the shoulders and straightens the arms.
- The athlete lowers the body until the elbows reach 90° and then extends the arms to return to the start position.
- The athlete continuous this press-up action, with no rest, until they are unable to continue.
- The assistant counts and records the number of correctly completed press-ups in the allocated time which is 1 minute
Advantages
- Test is simple to complete
- Requires minimal equipment that is readily available and cheap
Disadvantages
- The technique of the individual can affect the score they may reciev as some pres ups may be deemed to be illegal
- Hard to maintain motivation for full time
